Gravel Root (e.purpureum)-  general data and medicinal properties

Character: a pungent bitter, system cooling, drying

General Information:  Gravel Root is also known as Joe Pye. Gravel Root is an eroding herb for stones and gravel in the gallbladder, liver, and kidneys. It is excellent for prostate health for men and often recommended for flu. Gravel Root supports and stimulates the immune system is a protectant herb for viral infections. Use a stronger tea for liver stagnation.

Contains: lactones, sesquiterpene, bitter principles, tannins, and flavonoids

Medicinal Properties: diuretic, scurvy preventative, promotes the production of bile, body tonic, natural laxative, expectorant, promotes sweating for fevers and flu, useful for RA, promotes healthy menstruation, drink a strong tea for cystitis, bladder infections, to promote menstrual period, and prostate issues

Tincture: use 5 drops for colds and flu 3 x daily. Combines well with Elderberry and Elderberry Flowers for colds & flu. 2-3 ml 3x daily for cystitis, UTI’s, gravel in kidneys, and prostate inflammation
