Making Perfect Iced Tea
Tea Leaf– 4 grams (approx. 2 teaspoons)
Herbal Tisane– 1 loose tablespoon of coarse cut leaf and 1 rounded teaspoon of finer cut plant
Being a tea store, every day, we are asked how to make perfect iced tea. Here is how you do it- it is so simple, yet specific– You must make your tea double strong using 1/2 the water and pour it over twice the amount of ice cubes- Whether using tea bags or loose tea, the process is the same. If you are considering weight, 2 grams of tea leaf is generally considered the right amount for 1 cup of hot tea. So double strength is 4 grams or about 2 teaspoons of tea leaf.
Serving for One
Using LOOSE TEA
Steep 2 teaspoons of Loose Tea in 8 oz. of hot water. Allow tea to either steep freely or place tea leaf in a tea infuser ball. If you want sweetener, add it now to dissolve. After steeping for the appropriate amount of time, remove the tea infuser or if using a strainer, pour this 8 oz. of prepared tea, over a 16 oz. glass of ice (ice filled to the top). It will dilute perfectly every time.
For a smaller single 1 cup serving, use 1 teaspoon of tea steeped into 4 oz. of hot water and pour over an 8 oz. glass filled with ice. If using tea leaf, not herbal tisane, repeat steep using the same process to capture all of the health benefits of the tea
Using TEA BAGS
BASIC 16 OZ GLASS OF ICED TEA; Steep 2 Tea Bags in 8 oz. of hot water. If you want sweetener, add it now to dissolve. After steeping for the appropriate amount of time, next, remove tea bags and pour prepared 8 oz. of tea over a 16 glass filled to the top, with ice cubes. If using an herbal tea, you can leave the tea bags in. If using tea leaf, remove the tea to prevent bitterness and repeat steep using the same process.
BASIC 8 OZ. GLASS OF ICED TEA; For a smaller 1 cup serving, use 1 tea bag, steeping in 4 oz of hot water and pour over an 8 oz. glass filled with ice.
BOLDER TEA; If you are a person who prefers a bolder tea, increase the tea leaf or herb by approximately 1/3 additional product. Meaning, instead of 4 grams use 6 grams of tea, instead of 2 tablespoons of herb use 3 tablespoons with coarse cut and instead of 2 teaspoons of fine cut herb, use 3 teaspoons (or 1 Tablespoon) instead of 2 teaspoons.
