Meth Recovery

Recovering From a Meth Addiction

In order to begin recovering from a meth addiction, and to assist the brain in healing damaged neurotransmitters certain vitamins and supplements that contain amino acids are essential.

These are the most important starters- all mentioned below are beneficial. You can use these as your base supplements and if you find anything described below that is personal to you, add it to this list to get started;

  • Kratom
  • Mucuna Seed
  • CBD-A
  • Valerian OR Kava
  • Magnesium
  • Phenibut
  • Lithium Orotate
  • Lion’s Mane
  • Yohimbe
  • Limitless (temporary use)

Brain Function Recovery —  These are necessary in order to recover damaged neurotransmitters.

  • GABA (Gamma Aminobutyric Acid)
  • serotonin
  • dopamine

The brain normally produces GABA, serotonin and dopamine and all three are affected by methamphetamine. With prolonged use, brain receptors are damaged and will need to be rebuilt using these three supplements and a multitude of other nutrients.

Chemical Imbalance

The use of meth creates a chemical imbalance within the brain that can affect a recovering addict’s mood. For example, dopamine levels are greatly reduced in meth addicts as well as norepinephrine levels. These levels will rebuild but it will take between 18 months to 24 months.  The following information will help to speed up this process.

These Important Amino Acids Raise Brain Levels of Dopamine and Norepinephrine. Lima Beans/Fava-  are one of the few foods which can raise dopamine.

  • L-Phenylalanine  500 mg
  • L-Tyrosine 500 mg.
  • L-Theanine 100 mg. 1-3 times during the day
  • Take B6 or a B Complex supplement with these, 50 mg
  • Taurine 500 mg 2 times daily

These can assist in bringing these levels back up to a normal level and stabilize mood and a sense of well being. Without tyrosine for example, there can be no dopamine-  L-tryosine converts to L-Dopa which converts to Dopamine. This is the issue with Parkinson’s Disease, when dopamine levels are low or missing.

Detox

In addition to changes within the brain, dangerous household products containing toxic chemicals have affected the body, especially the liver, adrenal glands, kidneys, and immune system. Part of recovery is to detoxify the body using these vitamins- Follow a diet that nourishes the kidneys to facilitate detoxification- See the Post under the Wellness Tab for Kidneys.

Brain Function and Neurotransmitter Repair

  • GABA  250 mg to 800 mg per day (Phenibut helps to activate these receptors)
  • CBD-A  5mg daily to start (repairs cannabinoid map and brain gut connection)
  • 5HTP 25 mg to 200 mg per day
  • Dopamine -use amino acids described (found in Mucuna, and fava beans)
  • Amino Acids:  L-Phenylalanine, L-Tyrosine, L-Theanine
  • Herbs;  Mucuna, Ginkgo Biloba, Gotu Kola, Green Tea, Nerve & Tremor Tea
  • Oils:  Coconut Oil, Hemp Seed Oil
  • Essential Oils:  Frankincense
  • DMSO Liquid or DMSO2 (Organic Sulfur)
  • Fish Oil
  • Multi Vitamin-Mineral
  • Yohimbe Bark (tiny amounts, such as 1/3 of one capsule as starter)
  • Limitless 1-2 caps daily
  • Green Tea (L-theanine source, caffeine carries to the brain)

  • Coconut water or coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup dark berries (single or blends of frozen organic)

  • 1 handful of leafy greens
  • 1 teaspoon alfalfa leaf powder

  • use more water or coconut water to thin if needed

Juicing to Cleanse the Liver

  • 2/3 carrot to 1/2 celery
  • knob of ginger root
  • 1/4 red beet

AVOID

  • Sugar
  • Soda
  • Processed Fruit Juice or Fruit Punch Beverages
  • Processed Food, Junk Food
  • Bad Fats, Grease-  Margarine, Vegetable Oils, Polyunsaturated Fats, Lard
  • Limit caffeine, limit coffee (substitute green tea)
  • Foods containing colors, flavors, and artificial ingredients, MSG, Aspartame, all artificial sweeteners
  • High Fructose Corn Syrup, Corn Syrup
