Neuropathy

Peripheral Neuropathy can be a result of illness or the result of many drugs including blood pressure medication. Preventing it is easier than reversing it although many have been able to reverse it. Preventing neuropathy must be an ongoing focus. The greatest link for this nerve damage is between mitochondrial damage and neuropathy. The goal is to prevent and reverse mitochondrial damage used in combination with high B complex, antioxidants, and ALC. Combining the following supplements in any varying choices is recommended.  In other words, you don’t have to use all of these items mentioned, but you need to make your selections and then be consistent with follow-through.  Dealing with Neuropathy is not a short term program but generally not only does it take time but it must be an ongoing nutritional focus in order to yield results.

Here are the most common supplements recommended;

  • GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) 250 mg. 2 x daily without food
  • ALC (acetyl-l-carnitine) 500 mg. 3 x daily with meals
  • ALA (alpha-lipoic acid) 300 mg 2 x daily with meals
  • Multi Glandular Tissue Concentrate contains all of the glands to strengthen the entire body and must include Brain Tissue.  1 capsule at the end of a meal 1-2 times
  • Brain Glandular Tissue Concentrate 1 capsule daily at the end of a meal
  • Black Current Seed Oil 1 capsule 1-2 times daily with a meal. (best source of natural occurring GLA which is anti-inflammatory)
  • Magnesium 1 capsule daily with or without food, take at bedtime for better rest. The recommended dosage is 350 mg to 600 mg daily. Even as small of a dosage as 350 mg can cause diarrhea in some people. If this occurs, be sure to take magnesium with food and if still an issue, take a smaller dose until your body adjusts. Magnesium Glycinate is a form of magnesium that can be better for those with loose stools.
  • B100 1 capsule daily with a meal. This also contains 100 mg of B6 a critical B for this problem. Although 200 mg daily has been used by many, the recommendation dosage is still 100 mg.  Too much B6 can cause problems, so stick to the ideal dosage. If you want more B complex support during the day, take 1 B50 capsule at 2 separate meals.
  • D3 5000 mg 1 time daily with a meal.  After 90 days, most people find their pain level from neuropathy drops by 50%.
  • Golden Milk (Anti-Inflammatory Formula) This blend is an overall anti-inflammatory that tastes delicious. Drink a cup of this prepared beverage every day, some find evenings are especially helpful for sleep. Drink an extra cup during weather changes if you have more trouble during these times. 1 teaspoon dissolved in hot seed milk or milk

External Applications

  • Emu oil rub
  • Cayenne (capsicum) massage ointment
  • Oil of Magnesium with Geranium Oil added- apply to legs, feet, and hands, especially at bedtime.  If applying to the legs, usually 8 spritz per leg is a typical dose.
  • Body Butter- make this yourself combining preferred carrier oil with oil of magnesium, geranium essential oil, cayenne, and emu oil. This can be used to massage hands, feet, or any area of neuropathy. It should be used ideally at least twice a day, upon rising and before retiring. Add a small amount of DMSO to any formulation to increase its penetration. Be aware however that DMSO, although a great promoter for more effectiveness of all ingredients, it is also a dehydrator. As a dehydrator, if you use too much, it will result in dry skin. The appropriate carrier oil will help counteract this dehydrating effect, so if using DMSO, use a carrier oil that is rated at a 4 or 5 which is most moisturizing (although it can be a bit oily). This is a personal adjustment that varies from person to person
