Cold & Flu Tea Recipe

This is a great remedy formula, similar to the Elders Formula, designed for the respiratory system, colds, flu, pneumonia and chest congestion.  The Chinese Formula adds Boneset which is very effective for respiratory issues and Holy Basil (also called Tulsi) used in India for bringing fevers down from colds, flu, or other ailments.

Make this respiratory blend ahead of the season and place it in the freezer for later use as needed. Store in glass. We carry these ingredients, all in organic form.

Colds & Flu Remedy
1/2 oz. Boneset
1/2 oz. Peppermint Leaf
1 oz. Holy Basil
1 oz. Elder Flowers

First combine Boneset + Peppermint Leaf + Holy Basil in a bowl. Bring 2 pints of distilled water to a boil and pour it over the herbs. Stir, COVER, and set aside off the heat, to steep for 20 minutes, then strain.

Using another small pan, bring 1 pint of distilled water to a simmer and add the Elder Flowers. Do NOT boil. Cover and simmer on the store for 20 minutes, then strain.

Combine the two tea mixtures together and reheat to serve; drink 1/2 pint hot, every 15-30 minutes until relief is obtained. Add optional honey and/or lemon if preferred. Take 1000 mg of vitamin C once or twice daily for faster recovery.

You can also prepare this recipe as a tea concentrate- See Post No. 2 or to make a tincture/extract- See Post No. 56

Miscellaneous Optionals

For times when pandemic threat exists, you may also want to also include the Superbug Tincture in your herbal arsenal and use both.  Some people add chlorella or spirulina in their tinctures or as a supplement to include a higher level of chlorophyll for immune support. Kelp can be used for the iodine and minerals.  These added herbs can also be blended in powder form and capsuled using the Capsule Machine and 00 capsules.  Seaweed capsules are invaluable and can be stored either by freezing them for long term use or vacumn sealed in a glass mason jar. Vacuum sealing removes air and preserves your dry products for years and a perfect addition to any bugout bag or food storage collection.  The prepared tincture/extract can also be vacuum sealed in the mason jar (don’t forget to use fresh waxed paper over the lid)
