Post 18 Sinus Cleanse

No. 18

Sinus Cleanse

Sinus Cleanse is preformed daily.  A saline rinse may be used a few times per day if needed.

Basic Neti Pot Saline Mix No. 1

  1. 1 cup of distilled water
  2. ½ teaspoon sea salt or Himalayan salt
  3. 1 teaspoon of aluminum free baking soda
  4. OPTIONAL  Keep the contents of (1) “00” capsule of the Herbal Antibiotic, strain with a coffee filter and add to the salt water– helps with infection

Basic Syringe (baby size) Suds & Saline Mix No. 2

  1. 1 cup of warm distilled water
  2. ½ teaspoon sea salt or Himalayan salt
  3. 1 teaspoon of aluminum free baking soda
  4. 1 teaspoon of “no tears” baby shampoo
  5. OPTIONAL  Keep the contents of (1) “00” capsule of the Herbal Antibiotic, strain with a coffee filter and add this to the salt water–  helps with infection

*if using this method, after using the solution, rinse the nasal passages several times with plain distilled water until the water is clear and free of soap or mucous.  This can be preformed every day.  Many find this method is more effective than salt water alone. Essential oils in this process is optional.

Always rinse the syringe thoroughly after each use with 3% hydrogen peroxide. Store the bulb, nose tip down, to drain out any moisture and prevent bacteria buildup.

To the Basic No. 1 Mix, add one of these

  1. 1-3 drops of Tea Tree Oil
  2. 1 drop of each of these;  Frankincense, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary
  3. Some people add 1 drop of 35% food grade H202.  Never more than 1 drop to a 1 cup salt solution.  DO NOT combine H202 with essential oils.  H202 binds to oil.  Do not use more than a drop or it will be degrading to the nasal tissues.  It can however be added to distilled water for a nighttime vaporizer using 1 oz. of 35% Food Grade H202 to 1 gallon of distilled water.

For more information on using H202 see Post 20 for information and Post 21 for the schedule for tapered use.

Making a Basic No. 1 Mix in Bulk for Convenience–  Combine the following

  1. 10 Tablespoons of fine ground sea salt or Himalayan salt
  2. 6 drops Tea Tree Oil
  3. 4 drops Eucalyptus Oil
  4. 8 drops Rosemary Oil
  5. 8 drops Frankincense Oil

Mix thoroughly and store in an air-tight glass jar.  For each Neti wash, dissolve 1 teaspoon of the mix in 1 ½ cups of warm distilled water (not hot, the oils will evaporate away)

Antibiotic Neti Wash

Make a tea combining—

  1. 1/3 teaspoon of Antibiotic Herbal Formula
  2. 1 cup of hot distilled water
  3. ½ teaspoon of sea salt or Himalayan salt

Steep for 5 minutes, stirring to dissolve the salt.  Strain into the Neti Pot and when liquid is at room temperature, add 3 drops of essential oils from the list above in any combination.

The berberines in the Antibiotic Herbal Formula are excellent in their properties to fight infection.  However, berberine taking internally for the sinuses is not effective because berberine can move from the gut through your body to the sinus cavities.  To use it directly in a Neti Pot as described is the only way to reach where the infection is.  Frankincense as an internal supplement can be used because this essential oil crosses the blood-brain-barrier.  To supplement, most agree that taking 5 drops in an empty capsule after food in the AM and again with food in the PM is optional.  Start with a taper using 1 drop twice daily and work up to 5 and 5.  If you burp up the oil, reduce to a level where no stomach upset occurs and work up more gradually.
