What is Phenibut
 
Phenibut (beta-phenyl-GABA) is a Russian nootropic and tranquilizer compound and categorized as a neuropsychotropic in clinical practice where it is a prescription. In America, it is not a prescription and is legal in all States. It was discovered in 1960’s and widely used in other countries for its cognitive enhancing properties. It acts as a GABA-mimetic primarily at GABA(B) and some GABA(A) receptors. It stimulates the dopamine receptors and antagonizes beta-phenethylamine(PEA). In Russia, it is prescribed for the purpose of relieving anxiety, tension, anxiety attacks, insomnia, fear and phobias, depression, PTSD, studdering, vestibular disorders, and various therapy of disorders.
 
Phenibut is often used by those with social anxiety, and commonly to withdrawal from anti-anxiety medications. It is used in specific doses in a specific method in order to derive the benefits of the compound without creating a dependency or transfer of the original problem. In order to use Phenibut on a continuous basis, it is recommended to NOT exceed 700mg per day. By limiting your dosage to this level, there is no dependence nor tolerance built. It can be effectively used for daytime anxiety or at bedtime for both insomnia and middle-of-the-night anxiety. No break at this dosage is necessary. If however a person were to take higher doses beyond 700 to 800mg. in a day, a washout is always recommended. If using any dosage over 800mg up to 2000 mg. per day, a 3 day use can be initiated followed by 2 days of abstinence. This is called a washout. By using a washout for 2 days, you eliminate addiction to Phenibut, reduce risk of building a tolerance to the compound and basically reset back to the beginning.
 
Phenibut is compatible with many various supplements and complementary with anti-anxiety herbs. It usually has a 4 hour delay before onset of the effects. This makes phenibut very effective for insomnia where a person awakes during the middle of the night and lays awake for hours. When taking Phenibut at bedtime, when a person awakes around 2 or 3AM, they will usually drift back to sleep. If taking herbs for sleep, such as valerian, kava, sleep cap, hops, Sleepy Flowers Tea, or others, these take affect in about 45 minutes. The benefits of taking Phenibut with these herbs is that herbs work in the beginning, and when the 4-6 hour window of effectiveness of them is wearing off, the Phenibut picks up. This can result in more hours of sleep each night. Phenibut is compatible with kratom for all of the same problems. It comes in both powder and 250mg capsules. It is taken on an empty stomach without food. Just plan for the 4 hour window for effects. For insomnia this window is very desirable, for day use it takes a bit more planning. Some get affect in an hour but that is unusual. Here are some combinations that are recommended by the customers who use Phenibut regularly;
