Glutathione and Heavy Metal Detox
Glutathione is very difficult to absorb as a supplement. To increase glutathione in the body requires a conversion which is best accomplished through food and supplementation. Glutathione helps your body to excrete heavy metals including mercury.
Supplements that help excrete heavy metals include;
- Glutathione
- Methionine
- Vitamin C
- Methyl B12
- ALA (alpha lipoic acid)
- MSM or Organic Sulfur DMSO2
- Magnesium
- B6
- Melatonin
- Selenium (2 Brazil nuts per day supplies 200mcg of naturally occurring selenium)
Glutathione (GSH) This antioxidant helps you effectively excrete heavy metals and pesticides from the body including mercury, aluminum, and lead. It boosts the immune system and helps the liver to detoxify these from your system. Over 77,280 research papers have been published on the value of glutathione at PubMed.com. This important antioxidant plays a critical role in fighting free radicals which cause diseases like cancer, autoimmune illnesses, and liver disorders. When you have a deficiency of glutathione, your immune resistance against viruses, cancer, immune related disorders, and bacteria all drop. Without enough glutathione, oxidation occurs and toxins accumulate in the liver. Antioxidants of all kinds are beneficial in stopping free radical oxidation.
GSH binds to heavy metals and toxins through sulfur molecules. This is why MSM and Organic Sulfur DMSO2 are so important. You cannot store sulfur and you cannot produce it. You are born with about 4% sulfur in your body. These reserves must be fortified with foods that contain sulfur or your body must draw on these reserves to keep you healthy. Since you cannot produce this and sulfur is deficient in soil due to commercial farming methods, the tissues without your body are under the stress of depletion. Without sulfur molecules, glutathione is unable to support normal methionine pathways which is a contributor to the development of autism. GSH protects and reduces the effects of radiation on our cells including all forms of medical radiation procedures and microwave ovens.
Glutathione and tumor formation—
Glutathione protects and reduces the effects of radiation. When you have a deficiency of this antioxidant, you are more likely to develop a tumor. This deficiency is so serious that when you have an xray, one single scan, 1 out of 1200 people will develop a tumor. If you have a scan every year as a preventative measure, you increase the occurrence of tumor development to 1 in every 50 people. GSH is intracellular and must be synthesized by three specific amino acids;
- Glutamate
- Cystein
- Glycine
Food Sources of These Amino Acids—
Cystein-–
- Meat
- Eggs
- Garlic
- Red Peppers
- Onion
- Whey
- Brussel’s sprouts
- Milk
- Oats
Glutamate & Glycine—
- Raw fruits and vegetables
All Three Needed to Produce Glutathione; Cystein, Glutamate, Glycine— Food Sources
- Asparagus
- Potato
- Strawberries
- Tomato
- Avocado
- Watermelon
- Acorn Squash
- Orange
- Cantaloupe
- Broccholi
- Spinach
- Peach
- Zucchini
- Okra
- Walnuts
- Highest Sources– walnuts, avocado, and asparagus
N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine 500-750 mg. per day for 2-3 months helps your body make Glutathione. NAC helps your body protect the cell’s mitochondrial energy from damage. If NAC is depleted it works against your body producing adequate amounts of the antioxidant gluthathione.
Sulfur Containing Amino Acids & Supplements—
- Cystein + Methionine = Sulfur Containing Amino Acids
- NAC (N-acetyl-L-cysteine) increases cellular glutathione levels and neutralizes the heavy metal mercury (750 mg per day suggested daily dose for these purposes)
- MSM and Organic Sulfur DMSO2
- Magnesium contributes to these processes and improves the metabolism of GSH
Sulfur Food Sources—
- Garlic
- Onion
- Eggs
- Fermented Soy
- Kale
- Cabbage
- Brussel’s sprouts
- Wheatgerm
- Broccoli
- Cauliflower
