Jujubee Seed 1 oz. (ziziphus vulgaris) Certified Organic– Also commonly known as RED DATE. Whole jujubee with seed, commonly used for preparing a tincture, drying, tea concentrate, as a food, or in smoothies. This fruit/seed is used most often in combination with other herbs for reducing high blood sugar.
Smoothies– To use in a smoothie, soak the seed overnight in water to soften, cut open and remove and discard the pit before blending.
As a Food– soak Jujubee Seed to soften, cut in half and remove the pit. Cook the Jujubee in water on medium heat covered for 45 minutes. Use the liquid in smoothies or include in your dish. Traditionally, Jujubee is often used with rice or served with an egg.
Tinctures– For preparing a tincture, cut in half and fully dehydrate the fruit/seed prior to extracting. Follow the instructions for making a Tincture which is found under Post 53.
Tea Concentrate– see Post No. 2 for instructions to make a Tea Concentrate. Use 1 oz. of Jujubee Seed for preparing either a 3 or 6 quart dilution.
Drying– cut the fruit/seed in half and dry completely either using a food dehydrator or in the oven on the lowest setting. Grind into a fine powder using a coffee or spice grinder. Use as a powder dissolved in hot water or capsule.
